Old Cornelius Pass Road reopened to traffic September 21

Washington County’s Department of Land Use and Transportation announces that Old Cornelius Pass Road at Rock Creek, located just north of Phillips Road, has reopened to traffic as of 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012.

The 75-day closure allowed the county's hired contractor to replace a substandard "three span" bridge with a new 63-foot long "single span" concrete structure. The new bridge meets current standards, providing a safer commute for travelers while also spanning the creek to prevent debris build-up under the bridge.

The contractor has completed paving work and will stripe the roadway when weather conditions improve. Conditions need to be warm and dry for striping work to be performed. Periodic lane closures will be needed over the next several weeks to complete remaining road work, so commuters should expect some daytime delays.

This project is funded through the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA) program.
