Washington County Invites Community Members to May 25 Open House on Oleson Road Realignment

Washington County’s Department of Land Use and Transportation will host an open house to review the latest design refinements for the re-alignment of the northernmost section of Oleson Road in Raleigh Hills. Community members can drop in to discuss the design with project staff from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25th in the Montclair Elementary School Cafeteria, 7250 SW Vermont Street.

The project will improve safety by shifting the intersections of Oleson Road with Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and Scholls Ferry Road to the east, increasing the distance between the intersections. The project will also construct bicycle lanes, sidewalks and street lighting, replace the Oleson Road bridge over Fanno Creek, and provide improved storm drainage.

In 1996, Washington County, along with a group of community stakeholders and Metro, TriMet, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and the cities of Beaverton and Portland agreed on the project’s basic design concept. The concept has been refined based on feedback from the community and our project partners. This is the design concept that Washington County will use to seek further project funding.

The design is being funded by a combination of federal high Priority Project funds, Metro Surface Transportation Plan funds, and by local property taxes as part of Washington County’s Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). At this time, funding has not been identified for right-of-way acquisition and construction of the project.
