Media release

For Immediate Release: Friday, September 16, 2011

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation, Division

Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation invites the public to attend an Open House on September 29 for the Boones Ferry Road improvement project. The event will be held at Tualatin Elementary School, 20405 SW 95th Ave, Tualatin. The public is invited to drop in any time between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to learn more about the proposed improvements. No formal presentation is planned; however, project staff from Washington County and design consultant MacKay and Sposito will be available to answer questions and solicit feedback.

The project will widen Boones Ferry Road between Norwood and Day roads to two travel lanes with an intermittent center turn lane, bike lanes on both sides of the road and a sidewalk on the west side of the road. Existing curves will also be flattened to enhance safety. The project is funded through the county Major Streets and Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP) and the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA). Construction is scheduled to begin October 2012.
