Open house scheduled for Roy Rogers, Bull Mountain projects

An open house for two projects on Roy Rogers and Bull Mountain roads will be from 5-7 p.m. June 8 at Scholls Heights Elementary School, 16400 SW Loon Drive.

The event, sponsored by the Washington County Department of Land Use &Transportation, will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about the two projects and to provide input to staff. No formal presentation is planned.

Roy Rogers Road, from Scholls Ferry Road to south of Bull Mountain Road, will be widened to five lanes (two travel lanes in each direction with a center turn lane) and will include bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Upgraded storm drainage facilities, street lighting and traffic signal modifications are also planned. Cost of the project, funded through the Major Streets and Transportation Funding Program Bonding Cost-sharing Program, is estimated at $2.49 million. Construction is scheduled to begin 2018.

Pedestrian improvements on the north side of Bull Mountain Road will be done between Grandview Lane and 133rd Avenue. Cost of the project, funded through the Urban Road Maintenance District Safety Improvements program, is estimated at $709,000. Construction is scheduled to occur in 2017.
