Open house for three road construction projects is June 13

The public is invited to learn about three Hillsboro/Aloha-area road projects at an open house from 5-7 p.m. June 13 at Century High School, 2000 SE Century Blvd.

The 209th Avenue and Johnson Street intersection will be improved with bike lanes, sidewalks and street lighting in coordination with the Hillsboro School District. Completion is expected Sept. 1.

• Roads closed July 1-Sept. 1: 209th Avenue, between Alexander Street and Regal Court, and Johnson Street, between Lenore Drive and McKenna Place.  Detour map

The Century Boulevard and TV Highway intersection will be improved. Century Boulevard, between Alexander and Johnson streets, will be widened to five lanes (two travel lanes in each direction and a center turn lane) and the railroad crossing at TV Highway will be upgraded. Other intersection improvements include traffic signals and bus pullouts. Completion is expected in fall 2020.

• Road closed August-January: Century Boulevard, between Tualatin Valley Highway and the Goodwill driveway. Pedestrian access will be maintained, except for three weeks in November/December for the railroad upgrade. The County will provide a shuttle for pedestrians maintain access to TV Highway during the upgrade. Detour map

209th Avenue, between Alexander Street and Kinnaman Road, will be widened to five lanes (two travel lanes in each direction and a protected center turn lane). Improvements include railroad crossing improvements, bike lanes, sidewalks, street lighting and upgraded traffic signal and bus stops at Tualatin Valley Highway. Road closures are expected in 2020; completion is expected Dec. 31, 2021.
