Washington County, the City of Tigard, and the Oregon Department of Transportation will celebrate the completion of the Highway 99W/Hall Boulevard and Greenburg Road/Main Street projects at Liberty Park (located at the southwest corner of Hwy 99W and Main Street) on April 7, 2011, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. City of Tigard Mayor Craig Dirksen, Oregon Department of Transportation's Region One Director Jason Tell, Washington County Commission Chair Andy Duyck and Commissioner Roy Rogers will be among the featured speakers. The public is invited to attend.

Washington County, the City of Tigard, the Oregon Department of Transportation and Kerr Contractors want to express their gratitude to the residents, business tenants and owners, and commuters affected by this project for their patience and understanding during the construction that entailed frequent evening road closures and daytime lane restrictions. They also want to thank the citizens of Tigard and county taxpayers for these wonderful projects.

The projects began construction in May 2010. The combined total cost for both projects was $12,500,000, which included design, right-of-way acquisition and construction. Funding came from the City of Tigard's local gas tax, the Oregon Department of Transportation, the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA) and Washington County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).

Project improvements include additional travel lanes along Highway 99W, additional turn lanes on the side streets, improved signal technology, and intersection enhancements. New bike lanes and wider sidewalks help people get around the area. New landscaping, stormwater treatment planters, and many new trees improve the environment and aesthetics of the project area.

Washington County is committed to partnering with our sister agencies in building and maintaining the best transportation system, ensuring the safety of all roadway users, and operating the roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
