Project involvement opportunity for two Walker Road projects will be May 30

The public is invited to comment on two Walker Road improvement projects 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 at Holy Trinity Church, Fireside Room, 13715 SW Walker Road.

The two projects being exhibited are:

• Walker Road/Murray Boulevard intersection project to add dual left-turn lanes and dedicated right-turn lanes at all four approaches to the intersection. A third southbound through lane will be added to Murray Boulevard, north of Walker Road through the intersection, becoming a dedicated right-turn lane at Bowerman Drive. Project includes replacing two bridges and two culverts near the intersection. • Walker Road Phase 2 (Schendel Avenue to Butner Road) project widens Walker Road to five lanes (two travel lanes in each direction and a center turn lane) with continuous bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The Walker Road/158th Avenue intersection will be widened to include dual left-turn lanes on all approaches. More info

The project involvement opportunity, sponsored by Washington County Department of Land Use &Transportation (LUT), is open house format; no formal presentation is planned. Design and schedule information will be on display. County staff and the project design teams will be present to answer questions and solicit comments.

Both projects are funded through the County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). Construction for both projects is scheduled for 2019-2020; dates are estimates and subject to change.
