Heavy rains hit drive time this morning, and the forecast is calling for more rain throughout the day. Travelers should use caution, allow extra time and obey all warning signs.

Tips for driving in heavy rain:

  • Slow down
  • Keep your lights on
  • Increase following distance
  • Signal early and brake gently
  • Respect road closures
  • Be cautious near large vehicles
  • Never drive through moving water
  • Use extra caution near pedestrians and bicyclists
  • Avoid splashing pedestrians and bicyclists

  • If it's an emergency, call 911.
  • To report a road hazard by phone, call 503-846-ROAD (7623) during normal business hours or 503-629-0111 after hours.
  • To report a road hazard online, submit a road service request or send an email. Please note service requests submitted online are not monitored outside of normal business hours.
