Scoggins Valley Road reopenedUPDATED: 05/06/2016
Scoggins Valley Road reopened this afternoon (5/6/16) following completion of drainage improvements at the West Shore Drive / Stepien Road intersection.

The County's contractor, Pihl Excavating, completed the landslide stabilization project at Milepost 4.6 and reopened Scoggins Valley Road on April 19.
Scoggins Valley Road will be closed at the West Shore Drive and Stepien Road intersection starting Monday, April 25, for drainage improvements. It is expected to reopen May 6.

Scoggins Valley Road will be closed for six weeks, March 28 through May 6. A contractor will complete two projects during the closure.
Pihl Excavating will begin construction on stabilizing the Milepost 4.6 landslide starting March 21. The road will be closed between Deacon Drive and Milepost 4.7 for four weeks starting March 28. (Detour route map)
Subsurface drainage improvements at the Stepien Road intersection will require closure of Scoggins Valley Road at the intersection for two weeks from April 25 through May 6. Access to upper Scoggins Valley Road and Stepien Road will be maintained via West Shore Drive. (Detour route map)
The road will be closed to all road users - motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. Travelers will not be able to get through the work zone. Signs will identify detour routes. Every effort will be made to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.
The Hagg Lake Trail will remain open during these road closures.
Background
These projects are a continuation of a three-year program to improve the perimeter roads around Scoggins Valley Park and Henry Hagg Lake. The program includes stabilizing five active landslides, replacing six culverts, upgrading guardrails, and paving Scoggins Valley Road and West Shore Drive including the widened shoulders.
Funding for the $11.5 million program is shared between the Road Fund (gas taxes) and the Washington County Department of Support Services. In addition, Washington County has been awarded $5.8 million in federal funding through the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP).
