Three-Month Closure of Johnson School Road begins August 1

Media Release for Three-Month Closure of Johnson School Road begins August 1
Media release

For Immediate Release: Friday, July 20, 2012

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation, Capital Project Services Division

Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation will temporarily close Johnson School Road at Davis Creek for three months, beginning Wednesday, August 1. The closure is necessary in order to replace the bridge over Davis Creek. We anticipate the road will be reopened to traffic by November 1, 2012; however, unforeseen circumstances could result in a longer closure.

During the closure, all traffic, including pedestrians and bicyclists, will be detoured to Tongue Lane and Highway 219. Detour signs will be provided along the designated detour route.

The existing bridge over Davis Creek will be replaced with salvaged beams from our Cornelius Pass Road at Rock Creek bridge replacement project. The replacement structure will be longer, wider and built above the flood plain. A water quality treatment system will also be added for roadway storm water runoff.

This project is funded through the county’s Road Capital Bridge Program.

Washington County is committed to planning, building and maintaining the best transportation system, ensuring the safety of all roadway users, and operating the county roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
