For Immediate Release: Wednesday, July 15, 2015

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation, Capital Project Services Division

Helvetia Road will be closed for three weeks between Jacobson Road and Schaaf Road starting Monday, July 27, for the replacement of the culvert at Waible Creek.

Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians will be detoured to West Union, Cornelius Pass and Jacobson roads. Detour signs will be provided along the designated detour route. Travelers planning to attend the 2015 Summer Festival, August 1 and 2, at the Rice NW Museum of Rocks and Minerals on Groveland Drive will need to plan accordingly. (Event Detour Map) The road is expected to re-open August 16 (tentative; subject to change).

The culvert replacement is part of the Groveland Drive Realignment Project. The project calls for a new two-lane road, currently under construction, to realign Groveland Drive, starting east of Groveland Road, and reconnecting it to Helvetia Road at the intersection of Schaaf Road.
