Tonquin, Grahams Ferry closures begin June 16

Grahams Ferry Road will close between Basalt Creek Parkway and Tonquin Loop from June 15-Sept. 30 for road construction.

Tonquin Road will also be closed at the Portland and Western Railroad/WES Commuter Rail crossing, west of Tonquin Loop, from June 16-July 31 for improvements to the crossing.

Traffic will be detoured to Boones Ferry and Day roads and Basalt Creek Parkway. See map

The Tonquin/Grahams Ferry intersection will be raised 10 feet to improve site distance. Other improvements include:

• Widening of Grahams Ferry Road to three lanes, one travel lane in each direction and a center turn lane.
  
  
• Widening Tonquin Road to three lanes, including dedicated right and left turn lanes onto Grahams Ferry Road.
  
  
• Installation of a section of the Willamette Water Supply Program's 66-inch waterline.

Grahams Ferry Road, between Basalt Creek Parkway and Day Road south of the closure, will remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction.

The Tonquin Road rail crossing will be widened to match improvements to Tonquin Road. The rail tracks will be raised, crossing arms and other devices will be replaced. No traffic will be allowed through the construction area until all train warning devices and markings have been replaced. Rail crossing construction will take place on weekends when rail traffic is minimal, but the crossing will remain closed at all times for safety. Travelers must use the signed detour. See map

The construction is part of Washington County's 124th Avenue Extension Project in partnership with the Willamette Water Supply Program.
