Meet the Contractor Open House Wednesday April 7, 2010.

Washington County invites interested people to a "Meet the Contractor" Open House on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Aloha High School, 18550 SW Kinnaman Road, to view improvements that will be constructed on SW 185th Avenue South of Tualatin-Valley Highway.

The project will improve today's mostly un-curbed, ditch-lined SW 185th Avenue between Blanton Street and Aloha High School at Kinnaman Road to increase safety and traffic capacity. Improvements will include bike lanes, sidewalks, roadway widening and reconstruction, improved storm drainage, street lighting, along with traffic signal improvements at SW Kinnaman Road. The project includes storm culvert installation on SW Blanton Street between SW 184th and 188th Avenues.

Representatives from L.S. Henriksen Construction, Inc., the project's general contractor, along with members of the project design team - county staff and WH Pacific - will be available to answer questions. The presentation will provide information about the project, the roadway construction schedule, phasing of roadway work, utility relocations, and steps the County and contractors will take to keep traffic moving, maintain property access and provide for a safe work environment. Information about potential construction-related impacts, lane restrictions and work hours will also be available.

Road work will start in early April. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2010.

SW 185th Avenue and SW Blanton Street will not be closed to traffic during construction. As required there will be short term flagging lane closures to allow construction work to proceed.

The project will be funded by local property taxes as part of Washington County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).
