What is access?
Access is about providing the systems, environments and practices that allow everyone to obtain and use resources, services and opportunities in our Washington County community. This includes:
- Removing physical, technological and language barriers that limit participation.
- Including everyone regardless of ability, background, characteristics or income.
- Creating environments where everyone can meaningfully engage.
What is opportunity?
Opportunity is about providing fair and just chances for all in our community to:
- Pursue personal and professional wellbeing and growth.
- Contribute to decision-making processes.
- Achieve their full potential.
Our Access and Opportunity Goal
Our Access and Opportunity Goal is to involve all who live, work and visit in Washington County to participate in our public decision-making processes and outcomes.
LUT is committed to:
We are committed to supporting complete and welcoming urban unincorporated and rural communities through planning and permitting services that balance growth, housing needs and economic goals with safety and natural resources; farm and forest land protection; and by planning, building and maintaining a safe and connected County-managed transportation system.
We do this by improving internal systems, enhancing staff capabilities and capacity, providing excellent service, ensuring transparent and meaningful community engagement and enhancing collaboration with other County departments and other partners.
