The event will focus on working together to develop effective strategies to combat and prosecute financial elder abuse. Case studies will be presented to demonstrate how a team approach can help to successfully prosecute these types of crimes.

Through this program, qualifying residents can receive a rebate of $1,500-$3,500 when they replace their old wood stove with a cleaner heating device, such as an electric ductless heat pump, natural gas stove, pellet stove or gas furnace. Some households may qualify for a full-cost (free) replacement, depending on their income.

The $100,000 federal grant will ensure that the growing numbers of immigrant and refugee students and their families in Washington County have the books, programs and supplies they need to be ready for school and prepared to succeed.

Health and safety tips for pets during the heat wave

Several organizations are opening their doors or extending hours of operation to help people stay safe and cool over the next few days.

On Tuesday, August 23, 2016, Neighborhood Health Center is hosting a health expo outside of their Hillsboro clinic location, 266 W. Main Street. The event, which takes place from 4-7 p.m., is geared toward those 24 and under.

This educational series is designed to help unpaid family caregivers take care of themselves while they are caring for a relative or friend with a chronic illness.
