Cats on Sale at the Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter

It’s that time of year: The Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter is full to the brim with kittens and cats.

“We’ve reduced our adoption prices on cats and kittens,” says Deborah Wood, manager of Animal Services for Washington County. While the shelter is full:

**Adult Cats (over one year): $10.

**By One, Get the Second Kitten at Half Price (Must adopt both kittens at the same time): 1st Kitten / $80.00, 2nd Kitten / $40.00

All cats have been spayed or neutered, test negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV, are up-to-date on vaccines, and receive a free veterinary exam from local veterinarians.

“This is a great time to think of the joys of owning a cat. We think of cats as being the ‘new dog’” says Wood. “For people who love animals and work long hours or travel occasionally, cats can make perfect pets.”

10 reasons that cats are better than dogs!

10. Cats don’t care if you work long hours – they’ll nap until you come home.
9. Neighbors never complain about your barking cat.
8. Cats save you money on doggie day care.
7. Cats are self-cleaning.
6. Cats entertain themselves – no tennis balls or dog parks required.
5. Cats don’t need classes.
4. You never have to stand outside in the rain while your cat takes a potty break.
3. Cats don’t drool.
2. Mail carriers love them.
