Starting Wednesday, June 15, and continuing until further notice, the Hawthorn Walk-in Center for mental health and addictions care will not be able to accept walk-ins. Like many other health care facilities, Hawthorn’s operations are being impacted by a staffing shortage.

Washington County community members who need help should call the Washington County Crisis Line at 503-291-9111. The line is answered every day of the year, 24 hours a day, by trained professionals who can help decide the best option for care. This may include providing assistance by phone, connecting individuals with in-person help at Hawthorn, or arranging a mobile team crisis response.

“We want to assure the community that help is still available for those in crisis,” said Kris Puttler-Miller, program director at LifeWorks NW, which operates the center with support from Washington County Behavioral Health. “Calling the crisis line is the best first step to getting help for yourself or a loved one.”

For life threatening emergencies, community members should always call 9-1-1.

The Hawthorn Walk-in Center opened at 5240 NE Elam Young Parkway in Hillsboro in May 2017. More information is available at www.HawthornWalkinCenter.com.
