Tuesday, July 14, is a day that needs to be saved on your calendar, especially if you have dogs.

That night, friendly dogs of all shapes and sizes, along with their two-legged companions, will convene at the Hillsboro Tuesday Marketplace at the Hillsboro Civic Center Plaza for the 4th Annual Dogs on Parade.

The parade starts at 7pm and the route winds its way through portions of Downtown Hillsboro.

Fox 12 Oregon's Kimberly Maus will emcee the event, and the Hillsboro Police Department's Safety Pup will serve as the grand marshal.

After the parade, it's contest time! There are five contests this year with prizes awarded to the winners of each category. Enter one or enter all:

  • Best Dog Vocalist
  • Best Dog Trick
  • Best Dog and Owner Look-alike
  • Biggest Dog
  • Best Costume

The competition has been fierce in prior contests. So bring out your best!

If you plan on participating in the parade, we ask that you assemble at 6:45pm. The first 100 dogs and walkers will receive free goodies!

The suggested donation is only $1 for this fun family event. And all proceeds help the dogs and cats at the Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter.

Hope to see you there!
