Beef Bend emergency repairs complete - road open

Beef Bend Road opened at about 7:30 tonight (Jan. 2), following repairs to a sinkhole and damaged culvert resulting from heavy rains.

The road had been closed between 150th Avenue and Westminster Drive, about 2 miles west of Highway 99W, since the sinkhole was discovered beneath the roadway on Dec. 22 at 146th Avenue. The sinkhole extended under traffic lanes and was estimated to be 20 feet deep. Kerr Contractors worked long days to expedite repairs to reopen the roadway as quickly as possible. 

Latest estimates indicate County road damage from recent storms is about $4 million. Crews are working to repair damaged shoulders, drainage ditches, small slides, and potholes on County roads.
