Localized flooding due to heavy rain impacted more than 40 Washington County roads on Tuesday (Feb. 12).

Rainy weather has returned to Washington County. Showers are predicted for the weekend and into next week.

Those who live and/or work in Washington County are asked to apply for 10 positions on two transportation-focused community advisory committees that work with the Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT).

West Shore Drive, between Scoggins Creek Recreation Area and Scott Hill Road, will close Aug. 27 for bridge railing repairs.

Turk Road will be closed to all traffic at Sell Road for bridge repairs from Aug. 20-31.

SW Plumlee Road will be closed from Carpenter Creek Road to 100 feet east for bridge repairs Aug. 6-17.

There will be lane closures and delays on River Road, between Scholls Ferry and Farmington roads, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. July 30-Sept. 30 for shoulder widening and road repaving.

David Hill Road, between Thatcher Road and Antler Drive, will be closed July 30-Aug. 20 for a culvert replacement.

The 2018-19 Road Maintenance Program was approved by the Washington County Board of Commissioners at its June 19 meeting. The Program outlines maintenance activities selected for the fiscal year.

West Shore Drive, between Scott Hill Road and Scoggins Creek Recreation Area, will close June 4 for a culvert replacement and landslide mitigation.

May 20-26 was proclaimed National Public Works Week by the Washington County Board of Commissioners during the May 14 regular meeting.

West Shore Drive, between Hankins and Sain Creek roads, will remain closed through June 9 for bridge repairs and landslide mitigation.

Effective Sunday, April 15, the seasonal “carry traction devices” requirement in Washington County snow zones will be lifted until next winter.

Spring has sprung, along with thriving vegetation and illegally placed road signs. Both signs and vegetation can block driver visibility and pedestrian access.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a high wind warning from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday (April 7).

As winter hangs on, Washington County is extending the “carry chains or traction tires” requirement in snow zone areas through April 15.
