CPO Leadership

Interested in becoming a leader in your community?

Being involved in your local Community Participation Organization (CPO) on a leadership level is a rewarding experience that offers many opportunities:

• Find out firsthand about the issues affecting your community
• Get the personal satisfaction of helping to improve your community
• Build relationships with community members and leaders
• Develop and use your skills, and practice leadership skills such as meeting facilitation, community engagement methods, public policy development
• Gain a better understanding of how government operates and the mechanisms to influence policy.

CPO leaders host monthly community meetings which provide a place for representatives of Washington County and service district providers to visit your community with information on a wide range of livability topics. The meetings cover police/fire, parks/recreation, roads/transportation, emergency/disaster preparedness, public health, human services and more. The meetings also provide an objective space for discussion with elected leaders and forums on candidates and ballot measures.

Elections of CPO leaders are held annually by each active CPO. Opportunities to participate in your CPO on a leadership level are almost always available. If interested, email the CPO Program at [email protected] for more information!
