Resident Advisory Board

A HUD-required advisory body made up of residents who receive Housing Authority assistance and who provide direct input on policies and programs that affect them.

Overview

The Resident Advisory Board gives Housing Authority residents a direct role in shaping housing plans, policies, and priorities. Members review proposed changes, offer insight into how programs affect households, and weigh in on improvements before decisions are finalized. Through this structured forum, residents and staff collaborate more closely, ensuring community voices help guide the direction of housing services in Washington County.

Membership

The Resident Advisory Board is made up of residents who live in public housing or participate in our housing voucher programs, with membership structured to reflect a broad range of ages, abilities, family types, and backgrounds. Members serve two‑ or three‑year terms and are encouraged to reapply when their term ends. The Board actively recruits diverse residents who want to help shape housing programs and share their experience. Those interested in joining can contact the staff liaison below to learn how to apply.

Meetings

The Resident Advisory Board meets quarterly to review agency‑proposed plans and initiatives, discuss topics raised by members, and hear from occasional guest speakers. Meetings are currently held virtually via Zoom, providing an accessible way for residents to participate and stay engaged in shaping Housing Authority programs.
