Housing Advisory Committee

A community advisory committee that provides guidance on housing policy, program priorities, and long-range planning for Washington County’s housing system.

Overview

The Housing Advisory Committee provides community‑based guidance on Washington County’s housing policies and priorities. By reviewing plans and proposals and offering insight on local needs and trends, the committee helps shape funding and program direction while maintaining a clear connection between residents and the Department of Housing Services. For full details on how the committee operates, please refer to its bylaws:

Membership

The Housing Advisory Committee is made up of fifteen members representing a wide range of professional, community, and lived‑experience perspectives. Its membership includes residents assisted by the Housing Authority, individuals with backgrounds in finance, social services, design and development fields, real estate, planning, property management, and veterans’ advocacy, along with representatives of older adults, minority communities, and four at‑large members. Committee members are appointed by the Housing Authority Board of Directors to four‑year terms and may be reappointed for a second term at the Board’s discretion.

Meetings

The Housing Advisory Committee meets every fourth Thursday at 9 a.m., with meetings open to the public and held both in person and virtually. In‑person attendance takes place in the Olympic conference room at the Adams Crossing building in Hillsboro, while virtual participation is available through Zoom. Agendas and meeting materials are posted about a week in advance in the meeting packet below, and public notices are also displayed on the first floor of the Public Services Building. The Committee provides time for verbal public comment at the start of each meeting, and written comments may be submitted online or on comment cards provided by staff. Meetings are livestreamed on the County’s YouTube channel and are conducted in full compliance with Oregon’s Public Meeting Law (ORS 192.610–192.710).
