The 2025-27 Planning Work Program for Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation was adopted by the Washington County Board of Commissioners at its July 15 meeting.
The Planning Work Program identifies priority tasks planning staff will work on over the next two years. The major initiatives are organized into five themes and include ordinances, projects and other transportation and community planning activities. These major initiatives are in addition to ongoing work planners perform.
Initiatives and priority tasks include:
- Housing:
- Housing production and affordability
- Community Development Code (CDC) Assessment
- Rural Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance
- Natural Resources and Climate:
- Significant Natural Resources (SNR) – Rural focus and clean-up
- Climate-Friendly and Equitable Communities (CFEC) implementation
- FEMA Pre-Implementation Compliance Measures Adoption
- Multimodal Transportation Planning Updates:
- Transportation System Plan (TSP) major
- Complete Streets design
- Transportation Safety Action Plan (TSAP)
- Plan and Code Updates:
- Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) expansion and Urban Planning Area Agreements
- Minor Transportation System Plan (TSP) amendments
- Minor Comprehensive Plan amendments
- Contractors' Establishments Ordinance
- Fiscal Responsibility:
- Urban Services Framework
- Interim Parks System Development Charge (SDC) Program Assessment
