Walker Road is an important connection between the cities of Hillsboro and Beaverton. An unsafe dip in the road at Willow Creek limits sight distance and the street lacks adequate bike lanes and sidewalks.
We will improve Walker Road between 173rd and 185th avenues with five lanes, two travel lanes in each direction and continuous center turn lane, with bike lanes and sidewalks.
Other improvements include:
- Replacing the culvert at Willow Creek
- Raising grade of road at Willow Creek crossing by 8-10 feet to improve sight distance and rideability
- Building a traffic signal at 178th Avenue/Cambray Street
- Upgrading storm drainage
- Improving street lighting
- Installing some sound walls
- Installing landscaping
We are coordinating with Tualatin Valley Water District waterline improvements and with Beaverton's North Transmission Line Intertie.
A four-month road closure is need for a culvert replacement, planned for summer 2026.

Construction finish (expected): June 2028

9/30/2026: Bridge work continues. Expect construction noise 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
Walker Road will be closed between 174th Terrace and Cambray Street August 3-December 1.
