Filing Tax Return Using Smartfile

Smartfile is for filers who have 150 or fewer assets and have received a confidential PIN from the County.

Tech support for login issues will not be available after 5:00 p.m on March 15th, the filing deadline. Please make sure you can successfully login to SmartFile before 5:00 p.m on March 15th.

If you have difficulty logging into SmartFile after 5:00 p.m and wish to avoid a late filing penalty, please submit your return and asset detail list via Webfile here: Business Personal Property Return | Washington County

Smartfile is Washington County’s newest and fastest method for filing your Business Personal Property Return – no more filling out and mailing a paper return!

It’s as easy as…

Step 1: Gather your filing data, including any changes to the business ownership, assets disposed in the prior year, and any new asset added in the prior year.

Step 2: Go to Smartfile and enter your Account Number and Pin.
(you can find both on the letter mailed to you)

Step 3: Smartfile will walk you through each step of filing as you enter the data you gathered in Step 1. Once all data is entered, eSign the Taxpayer Declaration and hit Submit.
