Washington County Environmental Health offers safety and sanitation inspections for child care facilities, school lunch programs and private businesses.
- Child Care Facilities — Registered environmental health specialists inspect child care facilities with regard to the following topics set by the Oregon Health Authority: building safety and sanitation, playground safety and sanitation, pool safety, poison control, infection control and child health policy, and animals in the center.
Washington County child care facility operators can download Safe'N'Sound, a resource guide with child care health and safety tips.
- School Lunch Program — Schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program are inspected by their local health departments. Registered environmental health specialists inspect school food service facilities for adherence to foodborne illness prevention measures such as food temperatures, food preparation practices, worker hygiene, dishwashing/sanitizing, equipment and facility cleanliness. Schools that do not participate in the National School Lunch Program are encouraged to arrange food safety and sanitation inspections via Washington County Environmental Health program contracts.
Private Businesses — Businesses that serve food and have closed campus policies (meaning a member of the public cannot enter the business unless they are escorted by someone who works or has business there) are encouraged to arrange food safety and sanitation inspections via Washington County Environmental Health program contracts.
