Drinking Water

How Washington County regulates drinking water quality standards.

Scheduled Office Closures

Our office will be closed every two months on the third Wednesday, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. for a regularly scheduled administrative staff meeting.

The next meeting dates for 2025 are June 18, August 20, October 15, and December 17.

Washington County Environmental Health administers and enforces drinking water quality standards for public drinking water systems that use groundwater and serve a population of 3,300 or fewer. Washington County has just under 100 public drinking water systems that meet these criteria. A sanitary survey is conducted at these systems once every three to five years.

Washington County's Drinking Water Program is a resource for drinking water system operators and the public when dealing with water quality alerts, public notices, water monitoring and testing, and sanitary hazard analysis.

If you are worried there might be lead in your home's water, visit the CDC’s webpage for more information.
