Spay/Neuter and Veterinary Resources

Where to find spay/neuter and other veterinary resources for your pet in Washington County, Oregon.

Special hours during Fourth of July weekend

The Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter will be open on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for walk-in services. These services include stray dog intake, pet reunification and dog licensing.

Our shelter will be closed to the public on Sunday, July 5. We will reopen with our regular services on July 6.

If you find a stray pet while the shelter is closed, you can hold on to the pet and continue searching for its owner until we open, or you can contact Washington County non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111 to see if an officer is available to help.

Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter takes excellent care of your pet if it comes into our care as a stray, but we cannot provide routine veterinary services for your pet. This includes not being able to provide spay/neuter or euthanasia services for owned animals.

There are low-cost spay/neuter and veterinary resources available if you are in need of help. Check out the Oregon Humane Society's resource page for a list of organizations across the Portland metro region that may be able to help.

Community and feral cat spay/neuter

The  Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon  provides affordable spay/neuter surgeries for feral, stray and barn cats only.

Local veterinary clinics

We offer a list of local veterinary clinics. The cost for services can be very different depending on the type of hospital or clinic. You may want to call several places if cost is a concern. You can also ask individual clinics about credit or financing options.
